You can now sink the yachts in the game about sinking yachts 🙏

Three ramming collisions and the yacht fades out, only to be replaced by another bastard right away. Truly, without systemic change our struggle never ends...

Collisions are broken up into three categories based on impact speed:

  1. Ramming (white circles) highest speed, does most damage
  2. Nudging (red circles) medium speed, does no damage but causes yachts to steer away
  3. Bumping (no circles) low speed, does nothing mechanical

Ramming requires the most space to build up speed and is the hardest to control, while nudging lets you subtly control where the yachts go. I am working towards gameplay where you nudge yachts into positions where you can best ram them and I think the interplay of two different kinds of speeds will be interesting.

I am already seeing issues with rotation which feels really good but is not physically sound. I implemented it with setRotation and not torque or anything, so objects rotating against each other do not look or feel right. I will likely have to refactor that at some point.
